The current version of AGi32 will open all files from previous versions unless specifically stated in the File Compatibility table.

(1) If texture maps have been modified in terms of reflectance and/or color in v19 or v20, they will not retain these modifications in v18. The texture maps will revert to their original calculated reflectance/color which requires a recalculation. If you do not recalculate in v18, the calculated values will not be correct!

(2) Files created or saved in v19 and v20 are only backward compatible to v18 even if the file is opened and saved in v18.

(3) Support for deprecated entities (e.g. buildings) removed in v19 in an effort to compact the job file database (and make room for new entities). These changes break backward compatibility below v18. Note: Expect more database cleanup/compaction in future releases.

(4) V18.2 files (and greater) with Mesopic Roadway grids are not compatible with earlier versions.

(5) Obtrusive Light-Threshold Increment calculations grids (v19.10 and greater):

Grid Type

Veiling Luminance Formula

Backward Compatibility

TI

Standard

Yes

TI

AS/NZS

Kind of - Will calculate using Standard formula in previous versions (i.e. calculated results will be slightly different)

Lv

Standard or ASNZS

No - Will not appear correctly in numeric summary schedules or Print-Text. Will disappear when re-calculated

(6) Support for older version roadway grids and 'Trial Version Only' files removed (supported in < v2.1)

(7) Forward File Compatibility: Previous Versions --> V20

    Full Radiosity Calculations

Full Radiosity calculations in v20 are within normal tolerances with previous versions.

    Direct Only Calculations

In previous versions, photometric center for direct calculations was considered to be the insertion point regardless of the       symbol selected. V20 considers the symbol when determining photometric center (like Full Radiosity Calculations). This           yields better correlation between Direct and Full Radiosity Calculations but generally results in slightly different direct only     calculated values.

    Photometric Webs

Photometric webs in v20 are placed at photometric center instead of insertion point in previous versions.

    Templates

Template distance in v20 is based on photometric center instead of insertion point in previous versions which may       yield slightly different templates.

(8) Backward File Compatibility: V20 --> V19/V18

    Full Radiosity Calculations

Full Radiosity calculations in previous versions are within normal tolerances with v20 UNLESS Insertion Point or Luminous       Box Offsets are used (see Define Luminaire below).

    Direct Only Calculations

V20 considers the symbol when determining photometric center (like Full Radiosity Calculations). In previous versions,       photometric center is the insertion point. This generally results in slightly different direct only calculated values.

    Photometric Webs

Photometrics webs will initially appear to be placed from photometric center. If the webs are regenerated for any reason,        they will be placed at the insertion point (see Photometric Webs above).

    Templates

Template distance in v20 is based on photometric center. In previous versions, template distance is based on insertion     point which may yield slightly different templates.

    Define Luminaire

  • Insertion Point Offsets are not supported – Vertical Offset will be mapped to Top or Bottom. Horizontal Offset will be reset to Center. These changes may have a significant effect on calculations!
  • Luminous Box Offset is not supported – Offset will reset to default in previous versions. This change may have significant effect on calculations!
  • Attributes are not supported.

    Schedules

  • Headers are not wrapped which may result in overlapping (can resize cell width)
  • Long fields values are truncated instead of being wrapped
  • New fields in v20 (e.g., attributes) will be mapped to <UserField> with blank field values

Luminaire Labels

  • Basic label settings (settings found in previous versions) are fully backward compatible EXCEPT for Prefix and order of fields in the Label text block. Both of these are preset in previous versions and cannot be changed.
  • If Labels include attributes, the attributes may appear in previous versions UNTIL the luminaires are modified or relabeled.
